WMJ Extends Its Commitment to Safety Beyond the Job Site

PROJECT TAGS:

Safety at W. M. Jordan Company is always the top concern. Our goal is for everyone to go home safely at the end of each day. But what about once they get home? What about the rest of our WMJ team working in offices and support roles? At WMJ we believe safety education is a tool you can use for a lifetime, which is why our safety team is committed to ensuring all employees receive their OSHA 10 Hour Safety Certification, in what we call ‘OSHA 10: Safety for Your Life’.

Led by WMJ’s Director of Safety, Scott Sutton, employees throughout the company have taken a full-day and a half-day of classes to achieve their certification.

“In many cases we see where it is safer to be on a W. M. Jordan job site than doing home maintenance or remodeling, playing sports or camping,” said Sutton.  “With everyone taking the OSHA 10 classes, we can show previous mistakes made by workers and how an injury could have been prevented if proper planning had been done or safer tools used.  By using ladders and other tools properly, being careful with chemicals and having proper protective equipment, we can do a lot to ensure our own safety and the safety of those we care about.”

Classes feature educational videos, demonstrations and examples of unsafe tools and working environments. This provides a hands on, example driven, learning approach for even greater effectiveness.

“Learning about job site safety is always interesting, even though I spend most of my time in the office,” said Digital Marketing Specialist Tucker Bloom. “At home, I use ladders and work with electricity pretty regularly.  I can apply a lot of what we learned to everyday jobs I perform around the house.”

At W. M. Jordan Company, we take employee safety seriously. Whether on the job site, or at home, extra safety training will always be a valuable tool!
