My story: I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I have an older brother and a younger brother, so I am the rose between two thorns, if you will. I started in Civil Engineering at Virginia Tech but quickly realized I wanted a more “hands-on” career. When I learned about the Building Construction program, I knew this was the perfect major for me. I visited Australia and New Zealand over my Christmas break my senior year and fell in love with New Zealand. On the plane ride home I decided I would ask my future boss permission to take a deferment. I graduated in 2011 and moved to New Zealand for a year and then backpacked through Southeast Asia for three months before starting my career. My first construction job was with Homeland Contracting on the Consolidated Elementary School on Marine Corps Base Quantico in a Mentor-Protégé relationship with W. M. Jordan Company. I saw challenge and opportunity to grow my career and joined the W. M. Jordan team from that point forward.

Why I like working at W.M. Jordan Company: I love how much fun I genuinely have at work. Of course we all have bad days, but I truly enjoy what I do and who I am surrounded by every day. Family is very important to me, and W. M. Jordan has always treated me like family—you certainly can feel the love. That is hard to find in the workplace, but it is very important as we spend much of our time at work. I feel very lucky to be a part of a company that stresses the importance of not only building strong relationships but doing things the right way, holding our integrity high, and treating people with respect.  I’m also proud to be a part of such an innovative team that is always steps ahead of the rest!

My hidden talent: Headstands. I once beat a former Olympian gymnast in a headstand competition. Can’t make that stuff up.

My favorite things: I’m addicted to traveling. I’m an adrenaline junkie. I also love adventure sports, eating LOTS of food, meeting new people, scuba diving, doing things outside of my comfort zone, laughing, making awful puns, and most importantly, snuggling my dog, Layla… to name a few.
