W. M. Jordan Company recently completed a new Student Center on the campus of Christopher Newport University. Designed by DMJMH+N Architects of Arlington, Virginia, the Student Center features a three-story glass atrium, a two-story bookstore, and a grand ballroom. The three-story building is 104,930 square feet and also includes campus post offices, extravagant interior finishes and millwork, terrazzo floors, a boardroom, and a variety of dining options.
The Library, currently under construction, was designed by SBR&A Architects. This expansion includes more than 48,000 square feet of renovations to the existing John Smith Library and an entire new wing with 52,787 square feet of new construction. The building features a multi-level rotunda with a grand staircase and cupola reaching an elevation of 184 above the ground.
Both buildings feature stately brick facades with architectural precast concrete trim and columns.
