100,000 square feet

ENR Best Projects 2012In anticipation of a future shortage of physicians, EVMS expanded its Norfolk campus with a new Education Research Building, allowing the school to increase medical doctor classes by 30% and physician assistant enrollment by 60%. The building features cutting edge classrooms including a virtual reality system that uses advanced technology to model a simulated environment, helping students build clinical skills. With space for a new cancer research center, the building enhances the school’s ability to further their mission to treat and prevent disease. The Education Research Building incorporates sustainable design and construction that maximizes natural lighting, reduces water use, and saves energy. W. M. Jordan Company provided Construction Management at-risk services.
