W.M. Jordan Company

Intern Spotlight: Caleb Carney

July 13, 2017

Name: Caleb Carney

School: Virginia Tech

Assignment: Lifespire Culpeper Project

Intern Year: First Year

Describe your duties: Basic office tasks (i.e. looking through drawings for Owner Furnished items, Daily Reports, E&S Inspections) and Site Office Maintenance.

How does your internship fit into your long-term career goal?: I’ve always dreamed of working in the Construction industry but I wasn’t exactly sure if I would like to work for a General Contractor or a Sub Contractor. A couple of summer ago, I worked for a sub and now I have the opportunity of working with W.M. Jordan and so far I’m loving it! The knowledge that I have gained so far at Lifespire has only peaked my interest and I can’t wait to see what the rest of this internship has in store for me.

Describe your favorite way to spend your time outside of working this summer: Summer time is by far my favorite time of the year. I always spend my summers with my friends at various lake/river houses, local concerts, and of course playing any sports, hiking, biking, and fishing.

What are you currently watching on Netflix? I just finished 13 Reasons Why and I absolutely loved the show.

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, for what would you have a good chance at earning a medal? If making people smile was an Olympic sport, I’d definitely win the gold.

What job would you be terrible at? I would hate to be an English teacher because it doesn’t seem like an exciting job to have and I’m all about excitement. (No offense to any English teachers out there)

What’s your favorite late night snack? I’m kind of a healthy freak so raw cucumber and tomatoes with salt and pepper is what I typically eat.
