W.M. Jordan CEO Climbs to #16 on the Inside Business “Power List.”

June 3, 2013

This year, John R. Lawson, the owner and CEO of W.M. Jordan, powered up the Inside Business “Power List” of the “75 people who shape and influence Hampton Roads,” moving up from #18 to #16. This is the third year that Inside Business has compiled this list – what they call their “annual, journalistic radar screen for tracking the movement of power through the corner suites, boardrooms, power lunch restaurants and up and down the shifting financial fortunes of Hampton Roads’ movers and shakers.”

The publication quotes Mr. Lawson crediting his and the company’s success to the ability to hire quality employees and then trust them to do their jobs instead of micromanaging. The article mentions two of W.M. Jordan’s current projects – a $40 million Hilton Garden Inn at the Oceanfront, and a $35 million, 73,275-square-foot instructional building at Virginia Tech – along with the recently completed 31Ocean, a $47 million mixed-use apartment, retail and office development near Laskin Road.

W.M. Jordan is also a regular on another prestigious Inside Business list, being named among the “Best Places to Work in Hampton Roads” for three consecutive years.
