Modern Beauty in Architecture Meets Award Winning Honors

On October 31st, reputable building contractor W.M. Jordan Company received not one but two Excellence in Development Design Awards from The Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate (HRACRE). The first Award of Excellence was presented to The Eastern Virginia Medical School Education Research Building for Best Educational Building (EVMS) .
The EVMS Education Research Building features 99,568 square-feet of state-of-the-art education and research space including lecture halls, classrooms, core labs, clinical center and film production studios. On the exterior, earth tone colors were incorporated to blend in with city surrounding while green spaces were designed to maximize natural light and save energy. In addition to the first honor, the second Award of Excellence was presented to The Renaissance Academy for Best Sustainable Project (Renaissance Academy). Living up to its award honors, The Renaissance Academy has achieved the USGBC’s Gold rating. This academy features classrooms, suites, libraries, kitchen, suites and gymnasium accompanied with a rope course designed to build team structure. Lased with wireless communications and advanced electronics this energy efficient academy educates students not only in the classroom but as an observer living sustainably. Yes, at The Renaissance Academy food is also grown on site within a self contained green room.
