Internships

Just like our Employee Training and Development programs, the Intern Program is structured to prepare the individual for a career in construction, not simply a job.

Starting in the field the first two years and culminating in the office, the program provides the intern with a real world reality check to balance their educational curriculum. Our program officially started four years ago and is producing benefits to the individual and the company. Whether your goal is to progress as a field superintendent, project manager or estimator, the intern experience is unequaled in preparing you to meet the challenges of your future.

Employee Training and Development

Why does a large construction company like W. M. Jordan have such little turnover? We are asked this question often yet the answer is simple; give your employees opportunities for development, freedom to make decisions and mistakes, give them knowledge, experience and know-how and accomplishments and job satisfaction will follow. Our new employees follow a path that has proven to produce some of the best project managers, estimators and field superintendents in the business. While this technical, hands on training is critical it is only part of the development process. Developing the person is equally important. Our in-house training program tackles the tough issues of dealing with change, diversity in the workplace, negotiating skills, strategic planning, team building, dealing with conflict, creative problem solving and speaking and presentation skills. The list of training modules continues to grow as W. M. Jordan grows.

In addition to our in-house training program and hands-on-approach we frequently utilize outside resources such as the AGC Supervisory, Advanced Management and Safety and Health programs and specific outside seminars tailored to the individual.
