Green Buildings

"W. M. Jordan Company has made a commitment to increasing the quality of life in the communities that we serve for 50 years. Our dedication to Green building principles and their undeniable benefits will have the most significant effect on our contribution to the community in the next 50 years." - John R. Lawson, II

The built environment has a profound impact on our natural environment, economy, health, and productivity. Buildings use a considerable amount of natural resources and energy, and produce waste and greenhouse gases. Green building techniques incorporate the guiding principles of sustainable design, while reducing the use of non-renewable resources and minimizing environmental impact.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is the nation's foremost coalition of leaders from across the building industry working to promote design and construction practices that significantly reduce or eliminate the negative impact of buildings on the environment and building occupants. The USGBC developed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEEDT) rating system to promote these goals. Looking forward, LEED initiatives will help transform the built environment to sustainability.

W. M. Jordan Company has completed several LEED certified buildings including an expansion to our own Richmond office, which received a LEED Silver Certification. Our in-house LEED Steering Committee identifies and implements green building construction management processes, develops tools to ensure excellent performance, and promotes education and training. With several LEED Accredited Professionals and more in training, our staff actively pursues excellence in the Green Building Process.
