SAFETY

Safety Record

W. M. Jordan Company has one of the most enviable safety records in the nation. In fact, W. M. Jordan's Experience Modification Rate (EMR) has averaged .54 since 1994, about half the national average of all construction companies. This rating reduces the cost of our Worker's Compensation Insurance, thus reducing costs to our clients. That's not only good for our employees and subcontractors, it's good for the bottom line of your project, too.

Drug-Free Workplace

W. M. Jordan Company implemented a drug-testing program in 1990 for 100% of all new hires, and following all accidents, injuries and for probable cause. The results are impressive, and allow for cleaner, safer job sites.

Director of Safety

Our Director of Safety administers our safety program. He visits each jobsite periodically, depending on the needs of the project and the safety level of the subcontractors on that project. During his visits, the Director of Safety uses our jobsite safety checklist to be sure safe work practices are consistently in place. He uses digital photography to document both exceptionally clean and safe work sites and situations that need improvement. He was Chairman of the Associated General Contractors of Virginia Loss Control Committee for more than ten years and continues to be actively involved.

Toolbox Safety Talks

Each Project Superintendent is responsible for safety on his jobsite. Each week, all W. M. Jordan Company Superintendents hold mandatory Toolbox Safety Talks for job site employees and subcontractors. Workers often share their personal safety stories and benefit from each other's experience. In addition, a person certified in first aid and trained in CPR is located at each job site. At W. M. Jordan Company, Safety is a top priority.
