Firm Profile
William M. Jordan and Robert T. Lawson founded W. M. Jordan Company, Inc.
in January 1958 with a very simple commitment to excellence: to strive for
quality in every job, regardless of the size of the project, the budget or the
time frame. The firm began as a small company providing limited services in a
local area. Fueled by their commitment to quality and value, the company has
grown to an organization providing a broad scope of services to a diverse
clientele across Virginia. Robert T. Lawson, Chairman of the Board, and John R.
Lawson, President and CEO, control and manage W. M. Jordan Company today.
With offices in Newport News and Richmond, W. M. Jordan Company provides
Construction Management, Preconstruction Services, General Contracting,
Design/Build and Construction Consulting to a wide variety of clients in
healthcare, senior living, commercial, education, municipal and industrial
facilities. From hospitals and senior living communities, W. M. Jordan Company
is a construction leader, building excellence and value - in places and in
people.
Values
Leadership
- When most people hear about Virginia's largest building contractor, they
think that W. M. Jordan Company builds buildings. In reality, we are in the
business of building people. Leaders. People of character: fair, kind and
considerate, compassionate and charitable. Why? Because we believe that good
people build better buildings. Our strength is in our people, and our people
are taught to lead.
Excellence
- W. M. Jordan Company is committed to the relentless pursuit of excellence.
This commitment is the foundation of a corporate culture that inspires more
than 400 employees to live up to the reputation that has made our company one
of the premier contractors in the nation, and the largest Virginia-based
general contractor.
At W. M. Jordan Company, excellence is defined by:
-
Quality
- Quality in every aspect of a project, from the preconstruction phase or bid
process to the final warranty period. Quality of the people in the field, from
some of the best superintendents in the business to craftsmen committed to a
job well done. Quality subcontractors who share W. M. Jordan Company's
philosophy and who work together to produce award-winning buildings.
-
Fiscal Responsibility
- A strong financial standing provides a strong base to build from. Paying
subcontractors and suppliers on time, every time - that is excellence in
operation.
-
Mutual Respect - Excellence is defined in the mutual respect that is
obvious between everyone involved in a W. M. Jordan Company project; respect
that creates pride in workmanship. Respect that makes each job measure up to
the highest expectations and keeps satisfied clients returning to W. M. Jordan
Company time after time for successful completion of their projects. Respect
that keeps the process fun, building relationships as well as places.
